Cartoon Caper
For this first project, you'll build the website that will contain your coursework for this academic year. It's a fast-paced project that will take you through the key steps of the process you will use for all your work on the course:
RESEARCH - PLANNING - PRACTICAL - EVALUATION
For this two-week project you'll find out about the kinds of jobs that are available within this diverse sector of the creative media industries. You'll present your findings in the form of a short information film. In doing this, you will also be introduced to some of the key basic skills of the VFX & Animation industries.
Your task is to make a one-minute live-action chase scene that includes an animated character. Chase scenes are great examples of 'total filmmaking' that place emphasis on film grammar and technique. You will be introduced to the key concepts of compositing and 2D animation, and you'll also find out more about the processes of recording and editing audio for film soundtracks.

In this project you will once again make a one-minute film, this time inserting a 3D animated asset into your filmed scene. Your 3D asset will be an example of 'alien tech' and your narrative will reflect an issue linked to the use of technology in society. The best VFX and animation films not only look great, but have something to say about the world we live in, too.
