Task Eight

This Is Where I Upload Evidence Of My Task Eight Work.

evaluation

Here's my evaluation on the Third DimensionSo first off when thinking of a design I tried to think about something that I enjoy doing and being apart of this community. So I went with this thing called SCP which I thought would be nice to make. Whilst I was thinking of this I wanted to attempt to make a 3D Model of a gun within the community which is called a M.I.C.R.O H.I.D. The research was useful to me as it could help me understand more about this alien tech gun on how it works and what it looks like. The only thing that I would change is the location of where the gun is as it was difficult trying to film in a forest area as there isn't a forest near me.

When i was developing my ideas I kept getting more new thoughts which I think made my
3D Modelling more complex as it got difficult creating the model itself. I could've improved my Contextual Planning by taking my time think of a suitable and easier way of doing my 3D Model and not trying to get ideas and over complicate my original plan.

Here is the stages of me making my 3D Model in Maya. So I first off created the back of my gun by creating a cuboid so I have a starting shape for my model. I started to extrude the model to create the back of my gun. Once I was happy with what the back was like, I started to make the actual body of my gun and I simply done this by extruding one long cuboid across so it still stays attached to the back. This only took a few seconds as all I needed to do was to find the right length of my gun. Once i was comfortable with that, I started to create the magazine and trigger of my gun and I simply done this by creating more polygon primitives as I thought it would be easier to create a new shape. I simply extruded and rotated one cuboid to give me a magazine shaped object and moved it into position of underneath the gun. Then I started to make the trigger. I fount this part difficult as it was small and fiddly to make. But I managed to do it after creating more shapes and extruding them to make a nice shape. Once I was happy I put it into position onto my gun. Once that was all done I had to just added extra details like 4 cylinders to show the barrels of my gun and added some rectangles and circles on the sides for the affect of lights to give it some detail on my gun. Once that was all done I simply added some colour to my gun and that was my gun set. What I fount hardest was trying to animate my object to spin in a 360° but Maya didn't like it and kept breaking my object, so i had to come up with an alternate idea of screen recording and moving the camera around. The aspects I'm satisfied with is the detail parts on the side of the gun as it just brings more attention to my eyes and gives the gun a purpose. From doing all this I learned that I could render a 3D Object from Maya and put it in Adobe Premiere Pro. What I want to learn next would be on how to animate a rigged character and make it move around a city or something along them lines.

Filming was a major issue of doing this as I wasn't able to do it as I had no forest in my area and I had work so I just didn't have the time to do it all. I was also mainly focusing on making my
3D Object as I fount that a priority to get it all done first. I got my clips from Pexels and tried to make it work with the stock videos from there. One thing i could learn next time would be to time my management more efficient and make it so I can fit all my tasks in a selected time period.

The animation was an issue to as I tried to make my
3D Object rotate 360° but it kept breaking my object into many pieces and we couldn't undo it or even fix it. What I would like to learn is to animate an object in Maya to show my understanding more that I can animate within Maya.

I started to edit all my stuff in
Adobe Premiere Pro but I didn't have enough time to do it all but I have evidence of my 3D Model in the Adobe Premiere Pro and gave it ago trying to make a decent clip of the object falling in a 360° rotation. I'd like to learn on how to add a portal effect so it looks like my gun came from a portal from the sky.

I never got to to add any audio as I never had time to add this but I would like to add some when it get's to FMP.

From feedback I got from family and friends was that my
"3D Model looked but it would be nice to see it in a clip/short film". Improvement would be to "Add a texture to object to bring it all alive".

Overall from this project I'm proud of just making a 3D Model as I've never made one before and this is a big achievement to do. I would like to explore audio and animation as it would be nice to see all this in my short film sequence. I would like to focus on the filming as I hardly did any during this project.
